Broad aim of event:

This 2 day course aims to ensure that the individual practitioners realise that each test they perform is of equal importance and reflects the best effort (in terms of co-operation) that the client can achieve.  It is just as important that the practitioner appreciates the need for calibration, quality control and cleaning (without these results are unreliable and inaccurate), is also able to recognise and correct faults in their own and colleagues techniques.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the use of Spirometry in the workplace
  • Be aware of the  need to standardise procedures
  • Appreciates how disease can effect results
  • Have sufficient knowledge of the principles of measurement and physiology to be able to explain the test and the results to lay people correctly
  • Keep and maintain quality control records
  • Be competent and confident practitioners
  • Feel motivated to maintain the highest possible professional standards.
