Immunisations

It is very important that babies are immunised against a variety of diseases according to NHS recommended guidelines, and the same rules apply for premature babies - provided medical staff feel your baby is well enough.  If you baby is still an inpatient on the neonatal unit when their vaccination is due, a member of the medical or nursing team will discuss the matter with you and obtain your consent before the vaccine is given.

The programme for immunisation starts at the age of two months (eight weeks) then at three months, four months and at twelve months of age.  Immunisation continues at various times throughout childhood and full details can be obtained on the following website:
