2 x Band 7 Clinical Scientist vacancies in physiological measurement/biomechanical science/neurosensory science

Two new jobs at STH that would be very well suited to a trainee.

Department: Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering

Location: Sheffield Teaching Hospitals

Job Reference: 190-9304-DIR

This is a new and exciting opportunity to be employed in an innovative way of working across scientific disciplines. We are seeking to recruit two Clinical Scientists (Band 7; one permanent post, one fixed term post - maternity cover) into the Specialist Scientific Physiological Services (SSPS) section at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

The post holders will work across disciplines in Neurosensory and Biomechanical Science. There is a need for experience in audiology rehabilitation for one post and for gait analysis in the other and both are open to scientists who feel they have something to bring to the team. Further training is encouraged within the team and staff development is paramount to our success.

Sitting within the Directorate of Medical Imaging & Medical Physics (MIMP), the Department of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering (MPCE) employs almost 200 staff, providing a variety of scientific and clinical services to the Trust.

Ideally, we are looking for people who are able to work as a Clinical Scientist across a range of services within Neurosensory Science and / or Biomechanical Science. The group provides input to neonatal, paediatric and adult services. Evidence of audit and research experience would be an advantage as the group also has an active research portfolio.

The post is open to applicants who are registered as a Clinical Scientist with the HCPC. However, do not let lack of HCPC registration put you off as we are looking for the right candidate. Applicants who have not yet completed STP training or have MSc/PhD in a medical science but who do not have the experience in a clinical setting will be considered initially for a lower graded (AfC 6) post with training to registration level provided by the team.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is the largest in the UK with a strong reputation for innovation and development of services. Sheffield lies on the boundary of the Peak District National Park and provides an excellent location for those who wish to live in an area that includes both city living and easy access to the countryside.

Potential applicants are encouraged to visit the department.
