The team was established on the 1st April 2010 and is part of the NHS Scotland Data Recording Advisory Service.

The purpose of this service is to support the healthcare data recording needs of NHS Scotland and its associated partners. The service works with all its customers to ensure consistent and accurate recording of data in healthcare systems.

CDSIS work jointly with Clinical & eHealth specialists, Clinical & Health informaticians, software developers and IM&T specialists to develop the appropriate models and support the accurate recording of data throughout NHS Scotland.

The Compound Healthcare Headings model was developed nationally for local use in partnership with NHS Boards.

Implementation Support can also be provided to assist in aligning customer data elements with national and internationally maintained information sources.
