As part of the workshop, Beautiful Information will run a session aimed at understanding the information we need as a network to coordinate the provision of surgery in children across the South Thames Paediatric Network.

Beautiful Information has recently been commissioned by the Network to conduct an information management review looking at what data is available, the current information reporting set up, data quality and any other related items. We are doing this work because, at present, there is no network-wide visibility of the demand and capacity for Paediatric services, including critical care. We don’t know how many children are waiting for transfer to tertiary centres for treatment, or how long they wait, and there is no network view of how many children are waiting to be discharged to their local care centre. Consequently, the ability to effectively plan existing, and predict future, service demands is missing, alongside the opportunity to identify areas of improvement.

Beautiful Information is the first NHS/private partnership of its kind, offering unique real-time information to NHS trusts to help them plan and resource clinical services to meet hourly fluctuations in patient flow. Beautiful Information has already significantly improved the ability of EKUHFT and other NHS organisations to understand and manage performance through the development of performance dashboards that give hospital managers and clinicians a real-time view of activity.
