Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA)

TIA Projects

The treatment of Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) is currently under scrutiny on a National and Regional basis. The Network is working hard to ensure that all of the acute hospital providers within the Network are working in line with the Department of Health Guidelines and are aspiring to the Best Practice Tariff.

Hospitals are required to treat High risk TIA patients within a 24 hour period from the onset of their symptoms. Patients classed as Low Risk must be seen within 7 days of their event.

Currently within the Network work is underway to establish a TIA Performance Framework, which will then be replicated on a Regional basis.
