About us

The Shropshire and Staffordshire Heart and Stroke Network works across organisations following the patient flows through primary, secondary and tertiary care.

It is a collaborative partnership and its success relies on the commitment of clinical and managerial staff from all organisations, where groups come together to jointly review, plan, develop and inform on the commissioning of cardiac and stroke services.

Network Support

The network provides a wide range of support to the local acute trusts and primary care trusts.

This includes service improvement and redesign, peer support, clinical peer support, as well as administration activities.

The network also ensures that standards and protocols for cardiac and stroke services are developed with local stakeholders, and that regional and national guidelines are adhered to.

The aim of the Network is to provide services that:

* are patient centred.

* ensure equity of access to services.

* reduce inequalities in health.

* ensure consistant standards and protocols.

* are responsive to changes in practice.

* co-ordinate effort through co-operation, thus increasing capacity and making best use of limited resources.

* bring together key players across a geographical area to agree cardiac and stroke service provision, investment decisions and developments.
