NICE launches consultation on Quality Standard for COPD

NICE published a draft Quality Standard for COPD for consultation on 30 Sep 2010. The consultation will run until 10 November 2010.

An expert team, chaired by Dr Michael Michael Rudolf, Consultant Physician at Ealing Hospitals NHS Trust, has put together the draft standard.

This is based principally on the NICE Clinical Guideline (CG101. Management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in adults in primary and secondary care).

There will now be a 6 week consultation period, during which anyone can comment on the draft Quality Standard.

After this the expert group will meet again to consider the consultation responses with a view to publishing a final quality standard in March 2011.

The draft Quality Standard how to take part in the consultation and full details of the process can be found on the NICE Website.

A presentation has also been put together explaining the Quality Standard process for COPD.
