GP provision increases by 15% after restructuring appointment system – Edge Hill Medical Centre, North

The practice team at Edge Hill Medical Centre in Liverpool was experiencing issues in providing appointments and having to turn a significant number of patients away each day.

By participating in the Productive General Practice (PGP) Quick Start programme it overcame the issues which helped increase GP provision by 15%, this is an increase of an average of 57 appointments per week equivalent to a 0.5 whole time equivalent GP. Inappropriate appointments have also reduced across the practice by 40%, of these 26% were for GPs.

PGP Quick Start is part of the support available through the General Practice Forward View.
