Up to Additional Mental Health Information
December 09. 2015

Posted on behalf of Shizana Arshad:

SKIPS is an educational social enterprise based in Birmingham and London.
Our sole purpose is to raise children’s attainment in numeracy, literacy and life skills through educational work books based on the principle of effective parental engagement.

We publish English, Maths and Life Skills Books for primary school children that create meaningful support of the curriculum in the family environment, bridging the gap between school and home.

SKIPS seeks to be an agent for behavioural change. The SKIPS books, through their fun yet academically challenging content and puzzle games, empower the parents to understand what their children are learning at school and how they are learning it.

We are looking to find a partner organisation to support us with a funding proposal to the East Midlands Academic Health Science Network who are seeking applicants for a mental health programme. They are looking to identify and spread innovations that address challenges including mental health and require that the project team includes a NHS/social care/third sector organisation providing or commissioning NHS care.

We are developing a SKIPS mental health book which will help raise children’s resilience in dealing with and understanding the surroundings and environment they live in and other situations in the family. This will allow them to cope with and control how that environment effects them, help them to understand their world and how to deal with it. The books will act as a diagnostic tool to open doors and help teachers and parents flag up any issues. Our programme would include CPD to equip teachers with the necessary skills to deal with situations with the long term aim for the child to improve their wellbeing and mental health.

For more information or if you are interested in the project, please contact Shizana Arshad via or on 07939 970994.
