SUCRAN, the Service User and Carer Research and Audit Network, Audit of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland’s progress in implementing its Mental Health Charter.

The network have to report some disappointment at the lack of progress towards greater service-user and carer centred care. Not all is negative, however. Some disciplines and services were applauded for the quality of their efforts. Primary care health professionals (other than GPs) have been providing far more help with the number reporting this rising from 19% to 50%. Mapping outcomes against interventions is an inexact science, but the time period of SUCRAN’s evaluation does map to the period during which Leicestershire and Rutland implemented their innovative Mental Health Facilitator Service. From a Clinical Translation perspective, the service cannot ‘claim’ this change as a direct result, but the GP strategists can mark this down as a positive outcome. Something certainly made a difference! For further information contact the Project manager Helen on01162627952peoplesforum@btconnect.com
