Network navigation

This network has been created by the Southern Health Foundation Trust's Systems Development Team.

As a team, we have long dreamed of a community-discussion forum where it would be possible for us to exchange information, thoughts, ideas, problems and solutions with other similar teams within the NHS.

Today, we have finally decided to turn our dreams into reality by creating the NHS Informatics Community Network, of which you are now a visitor!

At this stage, we're unsure whether this network will take-off and, if so, what direction it may take. As a kick-off, perhaps a good start would be to describe a little of what we do as a team - primarily, the Systems Development team at Southern Health are responsible for:

  • Developing, automating and maintaining data warehouse ETL processes which integrate data from a range of EPR systems
  • Providing solutions which facilitate data exchange with 3rd party systems
  • Developing custom data-collection applications where the requirements fall outside the functions of the trust's EPR systems
  • Designing data extract processes to fulfill our national return obligations

The team uses a range of technologies in pursuit of our goals! Most typically, our solutions incorporate the following:

  • SQL Server
  • SQL Server Integration Services
  • .NET/C#
  • Intersystems HealthShare
  • PowerShell scripting

It you work in a similar team it would be great to hear from you and learn a little about what you do and how you do it - feel free to get in touch or use the network to share or seek-out relevant information!

Bye for now!
