The Department of Health have recently published Informed as part of their e-learning library for the NHS. The course is designed to help meet the NHS’ needs for improved induction into health informatics roles, and includes an introduction to the new NHS structures which will take form from April 2013.

The eLearning course is made up five x 30-minute sessions on the following topics:

1.     Introduction to health informatics

2.     Introduction to health and care

3.     Improving the quality and safety of care through health informatics

4.     The management and funding of health and care services

5.     Primary and secondary uses of data in health and care

All modules are standalone so can be done separately or as a full course.

The introductory session can be viewed by anybody without the need to sign in, however the full range of sessions are only available to NHS staff by registering on the Department of Health’s e-Learning for Healthcare website.
