Curricula for the Higher Specialist Scientist Training Programme

Health Education England’s published the policy document Scaling the Heights:an overview of Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) in Healthcare Science which set out how the Modernising Scientific Careers will deliver the Consultant Clinical Scientists required by service.

Read the HSST Doctoral Programme specification (v2.0 for 2015/16) - revised to include a second route in Cardiac Science (Congenital Heart Disease and Paediatric Cardiology) and new programmes in Neurophysiological Science and Reconstructive Science)

Life Sciences

HSST curricula for Life Sciences  have been produced in conjunction with the Royal College of Pathologists and are available through the RCPath website. They can also be downloaded through the links below.

Physiological Sciences

HSST curricula for Physiological Sciences  have been produced in conjunction with the Royal College of Physicians (Audiological Science, Cardiac Science, Neurophysiological Science and Respiratory and Sleep Physiology), Royal College of Surgeons (Vascular Science and Gastrointestinal and Urological Sciences) and The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (Ophthalmic and Vision Science).

Physical Sciences and Biomedical Engineering

HSST curricula for Physical Sciences  have been produced in conjunction with the Royal College of Surgeons (Clinical Biomedical Engineering and Reconstructive Science) and Royal College of Radiology (Medical Physics).
