IMPACTE case studies

Encouraging the implementation of best practice in primary care, IMPACTE is a peer-led tool through which GPs examine evidence in small group, self-education sessions commonly within a single practice.

  1. Management of COPD exacerbations in primary care (2012)
    At Parkside Medical Centre, actions agreed at an IMPACTE session on the active management of COPD patients to improve patients’ self-management of exacerbations and avoid hospital admissions were taken forward and implemented at practice level.
  2. Management of UTI in pregnancy (2012)
    At Parkside Medical Centre, actions agreed at an IMPACTE session on the treatment of UTI (urinary tract infection) in pregnancy were taken forward and implemented at practice level.
  3. Management of acute febrile illness in children (2012)
    At Purbeck Health Centre, actions agreed at an IMPACTE session on the management of acute febrile illness in children were taken forward and implemented at practice level.
  4. Cholesterol control in elderly patients with coronary heart disease (2012)
    At Purbeck Health Centre, actions agreed at an IMPACTE session on the control of cholesterol in elderly patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) were taken forward and implemented at practice level.
