A list of frequently asked questions and answers. This list will be reviewed and updated with answers to your questions that we believe would benefit all members of our support group.

Q1.  Where is the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) Haematology Department based?
It is on the 2nd Floor of the RMCH on Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9WL
Q2.  Where is the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) Haematology Department based?
It is on the 2nd floor of the MRI on Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9WL

Q3.  Who will be in charge of my or my child’s treatment?
The Consultant Haematologists will lead patient’s care alongside the specialist nursing team.
Q4.  Do you offer any emotional or social support services for children and their families?
We have a psychosocial dept. please ask any member of the clinical team or the Haematology Social Worker on 0161 701 2273 or email   Janette.Watson@mft.nhs.uk  who will be able to make a referral to the Clinical Psychology team.
Q5.  Does the hospital have Internet access for patients and their families during treatment?
Yes, please ask the Haematology Social Worker or support group Chief Administrator
Q6.  Will my child participate in any clinical trials?
Your consultant will be able to talk to you about any clinical trials that may be available to your child.
Q7.  Does the haematology service offer an interpretation services?
Yes   please see a member of the clinical team as we can order a face to face interpreter or use a telephone interpreting service.
Q8.  Do you offer any services or support for siblings of patients?
Yes – please contact the haematology social worker Janette Watson on 0161 701 2273 or email     Janette.Watson@mft.nhs.uk  or you can ask one of the clinical team to refer you to the social worker.
Q9.  Is there any free parking?
There is no free parking unless you are a Blue Badge Holder however please ask the any of the clinical team who can provide a car parking pass where you can get reduce parking costs.
