Paul Burstow and Interoperability

Filed under:

eHealth Insider recently ran an article reporting Paul Burstows speech at the Kings Fund International Congress on Telehealth and Telecare 2012.

Reviewing the results of the Whole System Demonstrator he said the British Medical Journal will be releasing additional papers “ over the next weeks and months”. He admitted that there are other barriers to Telehealth being widley adopted – one being the “general lack of interoperability”.
Mention was made that the DH is working on standards for interoperability. That is us. And by us we do not mean the ITK team at DHID in Leeds. We mean us as in this network and the discussions happening here. We are the team, we are the ones working on it – all of us. There is no back office ‘them’!
