Special award: Public Engagement category - Matt Dunn

The citation for Matt Dunn read:

Matt has single-handedly built up the Outreach activities of both the Institute of Physics & Engineering in Medicine [IPEM] and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. He has been instrumental in the high-quality physical healthcare science offerings for many years at the Big Bang Fair and more local events and was the driving force behind our local schools career events. He has instilled enthusiasm in colleagues to persuade them to become STEM Ambassadors. His own encounters with children and young adults has made me realise how well he connects [he’s a fantastic teacher as well as organiser] and kids are genuinely interested when Matt teaches! He has also raised the whole endeavour of outreach up the professional ladder of priorities within IPEM to the extent that IPEM now funds the facilities to support the outreach activities of its members. His boundless energy and enthusiasm are infectious and will leave a lasting legacy.

All in all an incredible effort and he still is instrumental in the UKRC [the major radiological conference in the UK] Schools’ Event each year along with Big Bang!
