Organisational Lead Scientist - Christine White

The citation for Christine White read:

Christine inspires and influences clinical practice within and beyond the Trust, by her values, integrity and ability to think strategically at macro and micro level.  We worked  together to bring about the first apprenticeship scheme for MLA’s in pathology, utilising this knowledge as best practice to inform other widening participation roles in Health across the South West region.

Taking up the first Lead clinical scientist role for Salisbury, she made it her mission to establish the role of scientists at the centre of delivering core business and provided forward thinking leadership to be an early adopter of new technology and modernising scientific careers pathways.

Christine established the first Health Care Scientist Forum embedding practice and innovation across the organisation and linking at regional level.  She leads on workforce development and reviews all levels of trainees developing a unique appraisal approach that has been adopted at other hospitals and across other clinical roles.  Her scope includes reaching out to potential future scientists at School, UTC and NHS Career fairs.

There is no challenge too big or radical for Christine and therefore I consider her to be an excellent nominee for the Organisational Lead Scientist of the year.
