The impact of incentives on the behaviour and performance of primary care professionals

This report from the National Institute for Health Research (service delivery and organisation programme) is the result of a study on the influence of incentives on the behaviour of primary care professionals. Using incentives can produce benefits for patients but it may also have complex and unintended outcomes. The aim of this study is to produce evidence to help policy makers design incentive structures which help to maximise outcomes for patients.
