Background
This one-day workshop held with the NIHR CLAHRCs and the Health Foundation follows on from the HSRN Summit in March 2011 where discussion centred on how to increase evidence-based policy and practice, particularly in the event of rapid and considerable change in the NHS.

In response to the challenges faced by the health service there is a need for the health services research (HSR) community to meet and develop responses as to how we can safeguard HSR to continue to make a contribution in the new NHS.

View the draft programme.

Specific themes to explore include:

  • Mobilising knowledge: how does this happen in practice
  • Different starting points for research in order to meet the needs of the NHS and policy makers
  • New ways to build relationships and partnerships with research users

This meeting will explore these ideas further with the aim of making some concrete suggestions on the way forward for the HSR community.

Speakers include

  • Professor John Gabbay, Emeritus Professor, University of Southampton
  • Professor Andree le May, Professor, University of Southampton
