Another new national driver for diversion

Up to Implementation Plans
July 25. 2012

You're probably still celebrating the inclusion of liaison & diversion in last week's NHS mandate. Now DH has given us another reason to be cheerful.

Yesterday a key companion document to last year's mental health strategy - No health without mental health - was published, setting out the practical steps that services and agencies can take to improve England's mental health and well-being. One section (p36-37) describes what the CJS can do. Liaison & diversion, young offenders, section 136 & offender suicide - they are all there. It also stresses the importance of local needs assessment - people with local responsibility for public health and mental health can not meet their aims if they do not address the needs of offenders.
