Jennefer Whitley

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has done or are planning to do, any service user involvement/engagement within their commissioning of police custody healthcare?

HI Jennefer,

We are working with 3 of the wave 1 EA's & 1 wave 2, we have contracted NACRO to do some work with service users.  It has three elements - questionairres that one of our healthcare provides has agreed to distribute amongst 70 detainees they see across one constabulary; focus groups and 1-1 interviews.  The intention is that we will get a feel for what users feel is appropriate with regard to the health services within custody and information sharing / referral pathways in to the community / prisons.  The work should be completed by Autumn and will help to shape any tenders that we work on.

Kind regards,

Nicola Ellis,

Primary Care Lead, Regional Offender Health Team (North West)

Jen, we are currently looking bid for a research bid that will follow alongside the cornwall custody project, which will possibly look into this. I will chat to Lynne about it.

Nicola how can we access your results in the Autumn?
