HI we have a policy of advising IOL at term if women are on no meds and have a normally grown baby.We quote risk of sudden placental failure as indication

It is justified these women are induced at Term. However the functioning of the placenta should be monitored closely by weekly or twice weekly CTG from 36 weeks onwards.

We do cx assessment from 37/40 and aim for IOL by EDD. On the odd occasion a women who is diet controlled with normal size growth and no other problems does go over EDD usually because she isn't favourable for IOL, but certainly doesn't go more than 7 days over. We do weekly CTGs from 37/40

we treat as low risk and wait til 40 weeks if no other risk factors and some women may choose to wait until 41 weeks if all is ok

We treat as low risk but wait to arrange IOL at term, they may go a few days over but only 2 or 3.

Those women on diet alone and no other risk factors are advised on IOL at term or 2 to 3 days after .  Those on insulin would be induced around 39 to 40 weeks

Ipswich do individual care plans for each woman. all have cervical assessments done at 39 weeks and given dates for induction depending on that. we do allow some to go to 41 weeks but with fetal monitoring after 40 weeks.
