About us

The network was designed to ensure that there was equity of access to specialist speech and language therapy services for children with a permanent hearing impairment across Cheshire and Merseyside. This includes children with cochlear implants. Each SLT is based in their local Primary Care Trust (PCT) but has a flexible job description allowing them to work across the PCTs in Cheshire and Merseyside. Most of the salaries and all the equipment, training, travel costs are provided by a central budget held by the Consultant SLT who co-ordinates the network. The network SLTs meet together regularly for training and support.
