Dr Sarah Housden will lead the morning session about working with older people, with some specific activities focused on working with those living with a dementia. It will include a range of activities and discussion topics including an opportunity for peer to peer learning, exploring stigmas and existing prejudges and how we tackle these, as well as generating practical tips and ideas.
This session will be followed by lunch during which there will be a chance to discuss the challenges and opportunities of creating a network for artists and arts organisations working in this field.
After lunch Dr Hannah Zeilig and Julian West will discuss the role of arts for people with a dementia and the possibilities of co-creativity which will lead on to a Q&A session about role of the artist with people with a dementia (rather than activity co-ordinator etc)
For the final part of the day we will be exploring the role of carers within arts for older people and how this informs our work. This will be followed by a summing up of the day and a reflection on the role of a network.
