We measure pain on a 0-4 scale on waking from anaesthesia and describe the proportion of patients comfortable (0-1) per month. It is extremely helpful to be able to identify the patients that are not comfortable.

I feel that describing the proportion of patients comfortable and listing the details of uncomfortable patients provides more information than mean scores, which I found difficult to differentiate and less clinically meaningful.
