Is the Hybrid Acute Care Model the answer? Public view | Network member posting
With the COFI study's early findings suggesting that the integrated/traditional model shows shorter stays and overall less bed useage, is it time to re-evaluate the acute care model? At the RCPsych International Conference in 2016 the initial findings suggested that not only were acute care models showing more bed useage than the traditional models, but that generally service users preferred the continuity of the traditional model. We do need to remember though that there are very few traditional models left in the UK, and does this make those remaing rather different from the general traditional models that were ubiquitous before the introduction of the specialised acute care model? Are these teams more dedicated to the traditional model, or do they exist in areas where the geography, population and resources are more amenable to this model? Or both?
