Unlocking the potential of the summary care record

The functionality to add additional information to the summary care record (SCR) is now live in 98% of GP practices across England. EMIS, TPP and INPS practices can add further clinical information (with explicit patient consent) by simply changing the patient’s consent preference in your GP system.

This can help reduce the burden between healthcare settings as more detailed information about the patient can be accessed instantly at the point of care.

Additional information will show individual coded items and their associated free text and can include: reasons for medication, vaccinations, significant diagnosis, anticipatory care information and end of life care preferences.
