The Confident Practice Manager

Thriving general practice is a vital ingredient of local NHS sustainability and transformation plans, yet the people most likely to make change happen are often overlooked. Practice managers are involved in and often responsible for business development, workforce planning, finance, IT, premises, quality, safety, procurement, reporting, communications, legal and contractual matters, and more besides. Running larger scale practices and working successfully in primary care networks and the integrated care systems of the future will demand new leadership skills.

The Confident Practice Manager programme allows groups of practice managers to work with experts and peers to develop their leadership role. The programme brings together like-minded individuals in a safe and stimulating environment to learn together and share experiences, supported by experienced executive coaches and experts in such areas as influencing and facilitation skills, working with patients, and guiding a practice through change.

This programme of eight half-day sessions over ten months equips managers with the confidence and resources to push on to the next stage of leadership and development of general practice. The next programme begins on 21 November 2018 in Leeds.
