Strategic workforce needs are a threat to training
Junior doctors have cautiously welcomed a GMC shake-up of postgraduate training but raised concerns about its bid to allow recruitment planning to influence the curriculum.
This comes after the regulator issued a set of new standards for training that aim to make it more flexible for trainees by making it easier to switch between specialties.
The guidance, Excellence by Design: Standards for Postgraduate Curricula, must be used by all medical colleges and faculties to redesign courses by 2020.
