Smoking at delivery, GP recorded smoking and GP recorded obesity

Smoking is a major contributor to ill health, including coronary heart disease and cancer. Public Service Agreement 18 (Promoting better health and wellbeing for all) includes the national target to reduce adult smoking rates to 21% or less by 2010, with a reduction in prevalence among routine and manual groups to 26% or less.

Since 2005/06, each primary care trust has been required to submit quarterly data on GP-recorded smoking.
