Shared decision-making webinar

Free web seminar for NHS staff

Shared decision making has proven to have positive effects for both patients and clinicians. A review of patient decision aids has shown that patients feel better informed, less passive in decision making and more comfortable with the decisions they make. In this session, Professor Richard Thomson, University of Newcastle, and Professor Glyn Elwyn, Department of Primary Care and Public Health, will talk about the early learning from a national implementation project on shared decision making – MAGIC (MAking Good decisions In Collaboration). MAGIC involves both primary and secondary care, and seeks to understand how best to ensure shared decision making is taken up by clinicians and used to the benefit of patients.

During the seminar, participants will have the chance to ask questions, exchange ideas and discuss how they can put these insights into practice. The seminar will take place at 4pm on Thursday 19 May 2011.
