Service specification for adult critical care

NHS England has published a new service specification for adult critical care services, clarifying the standards for service delivery when the critical care period is linked with a spell of specialised treatment.

Since the majority of adult critical care services are commissioned to provide specialised and non-specialised care, it is envisaged that CCGs will consider formal adoption of this service specification through their provider contracts by working with local adult critical care operational delivery networks and specialised commissioning regional teams.
