Secretary of state wants NHS to be ‘most advanced health and care system in the world’

The health and social care secretary Matt Hancock has set out a vision for the rapid modernisation of NHS IT, including moving applications and data to cloud-based services and ensuring that access to patient records and other data does not get in the way of good care.

The plans include introduction of minimum technical standards that NHS IT will have to meet to ensure that systems are interoperable and upgradable.
