Revised never events policy and framework

NHS Improvement has published a revised policy and framework for avoiding never events.

The document clarifies who may be involved in identifying, investigating or managing never events. CCGs should note the removal of financial sanctions from the NHS standard contract in relation to never events. The updated 2017-19 NHS standard contract is to be used from 1 February 2018. Providers are asked to ensure their local policies and procedures align with the revised national policy framework.
