Public unaware of the factors that increase the risk of dementia

Most of the British public can identify at least one risk factor in developing dementia, but only 2% of people can identify them all. The finding comes by a survey commissioned by Public Health England (PHE).

The survey asked the public if they could identify any of the following risk factors: heavy drinking, smoking, high blood pressure, depression and diabetes as well as the protective factor of taking regular exercise. More than a quarter (28%) was unable to identify a single factor, while just 2% identified all of them.
