Professional Standards for Hospital Pharmacy Services

In light of the findings from the Francis Review of events at Mid Staffordshire Foundation Trust, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society has revisited and re-launched its Professional Standards for Hospital Pharmacy Services, originally published in 2012.

The revised standards have more emphasis on the need to increase patient involvement and feedback in the development and delivery of pharmacy services. More focus is given to organisational culture and the need to provide services in a candid, transparent and open way. Signposting to key resources that support leadership development, including the Leadership Competency Framework and RPS Faculty tools and resources, was also highlighted as a key theme.
