Prime minister pledges £200m for cancer screening overhaul

The NHS is to get £200m to replace MRI machines, CT scanners and breast screening equipment to improve the quality of screening and speed of diagnosis.

The funding is part of the government’s commitment to ensure 55,000 more people survive cancer each year. The NHS Long Term Plan committed to diagnosing three-quarters of cancers at an early stage by 2028 through improved screening processes.
