No evidence that hospital competition is good for us

The Health Foundation has challenged a claim by the Competition and Markets Authority that competition between hospitals benefit patients.

The claim, made in a paper published by the CMA in February, of “empirical evidence that competition ultimately benefits patients”, is not backed up by the evidence used to support it, says the think tank, which calls for more rigorous research about the impact of competition.
