NHS foundation trusts performance Q1 2015/16

Monitor has release a summary of the financial performance of the NHS foundation trust sector for the first quarter of 2015/16 (April to June 2015).

The figures show foundation trusts running a combined deficit of £445m. The figures are worse than expected.

Separately, the position of non-foundation NHS trusts also worsened to £485m in the red.

The combined total of £930m means that the deficit for the year may be even worse than the £2.1bn widely forecast.
