National data opt-out communication resources for CCGs and their providers

All care providers have a responsibility to inform patients about the national data opt-out service that allows people to opt out of their confidential patient information being used for research and planning. Private providers for care that are funded or coordinated by the NHS or a local authority also share this responsibility.

The national data opt-out programme will be writing to CCGs encouraging them to order a communications pack for use by all private providers from whom they have commissioned care. Digital resources are also available on NHS CommsLink. If you have yet to register with CommsLink, please request a login from nhsi.commlink2@nhs.net. Further information for health and care professionals about the national data opt-out is available on the NHS Digital website.
