Medical contracts - do you vary or procure?

Commissioners of primary medical services contracts are frequently faced with changes to contracting parties and contractual obligations.

This on 26 June in Manchester event brings together the rules governing when to vary a contract and when to go to procurement. This allows delegates to consider how they would balance what are seen by some as competing tensions. Commissioners faced with this question currently have to consider two sources: the NHS England Policy and Guidance Manual for advice on variation and the NHS procurement regulations for the procurement rules. One delegate to the first event in April said it was “fast-paced and relevant to complex commissioning decisions [and] relevant to current contract changes”.
