Interim NHS people plan

While national bodies continue to develop a workforce strategy to address shortages of nurses, GPs, hospital doctors and other professions, NHS Improvement has published an Interim NHS People Plan.

The interim plan sets out a commitment to make the NHS “the best place to work”, by improving leadership and tackling cultural problems. The plan also stresses the needs for more effective multidisciplinary working. A “full” plan, covering the next five years, will be published after the government’s autumn spending review, though the interim plan promises short-term action on nursing, where workforce shortages are arguably most acute.
