Inquiry into premature deaths of people with learning disabilities

A report of the confidential inquiry into the premature deaths of people with learning disabilities reveals that 43% of the deaths reviewed were premature and 28% might have been avoided by better healthcare.

The Department of Health funded the inquiry which identified failings in understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, use of information systems and co-ordination of care.
