Review gives GMC clean bill of health

The Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA) has published its annual independent review into the General Medical Council (GMC).

The PSA said the GMC continued to meet its standards for good regulation - the benchmark by which health regulators are judged on how effective they have been in protecting the public and maintaining confidence in the profession.

The report commended the work the GMC has done to drive improvement across the organisation including the publication of the new version of Good Medical Practice (GMP) – the core guidance for doctors - and the launch of the Medical Practitioners’ Tribunal Service (MPTS) in June last year.
