Impact of NHS overseas charging regulations on patients and doctors

Regulations designed to recover NHS treatment costs from overseas visitors are deterring vulnerable people from seeking treatment, threatening public health and wasting valuable clinical time, according to the BMA.

The BMA – a frequent critic of the regulations – has produced a survey which it says supports its claims that the National Health Service (Charges to Overseas Visitors) (Amendment) Regulations 2017 do more harm than good.
