Healthcare reservists in the armed forces

Plans to expand the number of NHS staff who train as reservists for the armed forces were explored at a conference this week.

Delegates discussed plans to expand programmes of engagement between the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and NHS organisations.

They reaffirmed a commitment to an MOD paper published last year, which argued that reservists should make up around 29% of the UK’s defence capacity by 2020. Currently over 2,000 NHS staff are trained and registered reservists. More ...
