Health check for CCGs worried about legacy contracts

CCGs with delegated authority for commissioning services from general practice could soon find that out-of-date and inconsistent contracts are getting in the way of progress.

Primary care contracts were subject to a “stabilisation and shift” exercise in the run-up to the implementation of the Health and Social Care Act 2012, but much of this work was never completed and some CCGs stand to inherit the half-finished work of predecessor organisations. If contracts are not up to date CCGs will be storing up operational difficulties and could have their strategic decisions undermined. PCC, the national expert in primary care contracting and commissioning, is offering a “health check” for legacy contracts for CCGs who have already been granted or are working towards delegated authority.
