Guidance to support medical revalidation

The General Medical Council and other regulators have published a joint revalidation handbook to help boards check that their organisations are placing quality and safety at the heart of their services for patients.

All doctors will have to take part in revalidation, usually every five years, to demonstrate that they are up to date and fit to practise by undertaking regular appraisals with their employer based on the GMC’s core guidance for doctors, Good Medical Practice.
